Cheese puffs are on my top 10 list of favourite cravings. I love them. They work at any stage of the day, but best consumed within 30 minutes of coming out of the oven. They can be reheated successfully.
This is my Nana Mary's recipe. Like most of her generation, she was an amazing baker. This is just one of her classic quick and easy bakes.
I doctored mine a little by using 1/2 cup aged cheddar, 1/4 cup parmesan, 1/4 cup gruyere. It takes them to a new level.
Ingredients
1 cup plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 egg
1 cup grated cheese
1/2 cup milk
Preheat oven to 180 degrees
Mix flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add salt.
Mix in all other ingredients and stir to combine.
Place spoonfuls on a baking paper lined tray.
Bake for 15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
Serve warm with butter and your favourite spread. Mine being Ruth Pretty's Tomato Chilli Jam.
If you want to throw in fresh or dried herbs, spring onion, bacon or ham then feel free. Its a great base of a recipe.Â
Enjoy.
