Sugar Doughnuts with Orange Blossom and Honey Syrup

I love making these for my son. The look on his face when he is in front of a whole bowl of glistening doughnuts is priceless.

Use whatever honey you prefer and if you don't have orange blossom then rose water, pomegranate molasses or vanilla bean extract will also work wonderfully.

Ingredients

DOUGHNUTS

1 c plain flour

1½ tsp baking powder

3 tsp caster sugar

½ tsp salt 1½ - ¾ c milk Canola oil 1 c white sugar SYRUP ¾ c honey 3 tsp orange blossom For the doughnuts combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk in the milk until a runny batter forms. Whisk out all lumps. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 190 degrees. In a microwave safe bowl combine syrup ingredients. Heat on high for 1 minute. Stir. Set aside. Carefully spoon a tsp worth of batter into hot oil. Cook for 3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon on a cooling rack. Allow to cool before coating in white sugar. Arrange on a plate with syrup. Serve. Enjoy!
